Measure the diameter of the ammeter, ( for the internal diameter of the O ring ) measure the thickness ( cross section ) of the old O ring. Google " O rings " & they are available for pennies.

Clear silicone is cheaper still pound for pound as you can use it for sealing exhaust pipes. :beer:

Last summer I have ordered a new ammeter (in a green box, Lucas branded, but made where ?) but I miss to order the "o" ring listed with it...
I found in my stock of carb gaskets a thin "o" ring which does the job. It must be not too beefy, to allow the four tangs to fit correctly.

You could try a local hydraulic repair shop might be lucky and pick one up for pennies.

It's the same o-ring as for the main Lucas light switch.
