Found an old photo-Can I track the bike?

Post by Denise Challis. »

Going through old photos with my father in law at the weekend, he pulled out an old snap (mid 40's) of him and his bike.
Memory lane kicked in and I was wondering if it would possible to find out if his bike still exists.
He tells me it was an AJS 500 twin, and the photo shows the registration.
Can anyone point in the right direction please ?

Cheers

Suggest you let us know the registration number as a starting point and advertise in the Jampot to see if anyone has the bike

Send the photo to OBM and ask them the question. Give as much info as you know like where the photo came from etc. Also send a copy to the owners club for the bike in question.

Thanks for the response, but can you explain what OBM stands for. Apologies in advance if this is a really dumb question.

Hi Denise,

OBM stands for OLD BIKE MART http://www.oldbikemart.co.uk

It is a newspaper format monthly that is dedicated to the Vintage and Classic Bike Rider & is full of essential contacts, info, parts & services as well as general interst items. One such is a monthly column called "Unearthed" which looks into all manner of machines (mostly rusty wrecks) and have extensive library info.

Worth subscibing for anyone with a clasic bike at only £9.50 PA, delivered to your door.
