Hi
I've decided not to go down the two six volt batteries in series route with my G15 restoration. I've made a battery carrier to what I have been informed are the original dimensions and am now looking for a suitable 12v battery to install. Footprint is around 120mm x 70mm and height around 120mm.
Have yet to find a close match so was wondering what are other owners using.
Regards Mick

Re: G15 Battery
Hi Mick,
Both my brother and I have fitted Motobatt AGM batteries Product Code MB9U. They have proved reliable and much safer (no spills) compared to a wet lead/acid battery.

Re: G15 Battery
Thanks for that Alan
What year are your bikes, if you don't mind? That battery would not fit my battery tray, (which I made to the dimensions of a NOS item).
A bit more digging on the interweb has thrown up the following options:
YB4L-A or B - 120 x 70 x 92
YB5L-B - 120 x 60 x 130
12N5-3B - 120 x 61 x 130
YTX5L-BS - 114 x 71 x 106

Re: G15 Battery
Hi Mick,
My brother's bike is a 1965 G15Mk2 and mine is a 1968 G15CSR. The Motobatts are a tight fit. I think I had to file the toolbox aperture slightly, but I think my brother managed to get the battery in without. The positioning of the terminals helps in that they are not right at the top of the battery. I have fitted smaller Motobatts (MB5U) to my G12 and M31 which are 1966 and 1964 respectively, but these are magneto ignition bikes. I had to pad out the battery carrier on these to make the batteries a good fit.
Regards
