1962 G12 CSR rear seat mount
.Hello, I am a freshly minted new member of the club. I recently purchased a Matchless G12 CSR. Club research has shown it to be a mid 1962 build. The seat has had brackets fabricated (badly) to make the non standard part fit. A new seat is being fabricated by Leightons as we speak, but I need help with the rear bracket. I have no idea what it attaches to in securing the saddle. I am aware that the Road model uses bolts fitted through the seat sides and utilizing the frame rail mounting holes immediately forward of the shock absorber mounts, but I am all at sea with my CSR. Mine has a steel rmudguards fitted, not alloy. Help! Posted by Paul Cribb from Melbourne

You don't say which type of seat you ordered at Leightons. If you've ordered a CSR type I'm not sure if it'll fit on that standard mudguard. It'll most likely stick up in the air with a big gap underneath. If you're keeping the standard steel guards you'd be better off with a standard seat which will fit easily.
On a lovely CSR why not get alloy guards and CSR stays and it'll look great. Have a word with Steve Surbey at AMC Classic Spares. He supplies all you'll need to do the job properly and there'll be a queue of members who'll buy those standard guards! http://www.amcclassicspares.com/email.php
Dave.

Thanks Dave. If I did the mud-guard change, do you know how and where the rear mount attaches?

This is a Leighton CSR seat...
The very back of the seat has captive threads and can be bolted though the mudguard.
The downstands sit on the rear frame cross member. The very back of the seat has captive threads and can be bolted though the mudguard.

There is a bridge and a rear loop for the mudguard.

JB and Dave, thank-you both for taking the time to reply. Dave is right, the alloy guard does look the part and would save some weight. I may go that way. JB, the pics are a great help!
cheers
