1966 Model 31 Brake pedal

Post by Simon Tovey »

Hi All
I have a 1966 Model 31 and I am sure it has the wrong brake pedal as it hits the near-side exhaust pipe when I operate the brake. All Roy Bacon has to say on the subject is that '1965-67 these models fitted a different item'.
Does anyone have any idea what the part number may be and even where I can get one?
Thanks All.

There is nothing special about the brake pedal. P/N 029559 was introduced for the G15 series in 1964 and consecutively adopted for the G12 and the singles. The only difference to the previous model is the inclusion of a small plate welded to the operating lever, and a special bolt acting on the new stoplight switch, Lucas 31383 A/B, p/n 029351, itself replacing the crude spring operated stoplight switch (31384B) fitted up to 1963.

Where can you get one? Try eBay. Beware of casting number 029xxx.

A picture can speak a 1000 words but by the sounds of things you may well have an earlier pedal from a single or a Sports twin with Siamese pipes such as CSR/CS, these models were not fitted with pedals that were shaped at the pivot to clear a left side pipe or silencer.
