I have just stripped the chaincase off my bike and the spacer between inner chaincase and LH crankcase sits flat between both surfaces and concentric with the engine main bearing boss in the casting. The spacer dimensions are as follows:-
Outer diameter = 6 1/2"
Inner diameter = 4"
Thickness = 3/16"
I have a photo if it helps.
I think it is important to get this area right; wear in the 3 holes in the inner chaincase (on my bike) caused some problems and I have introduced a supporting stud attached to the engine/gearbox plate. This is standard on your bike I believe.
Haven't had a chance to look at your rear wheel spindle problem yet - maybe this weekend.
