should there be a spacer between the drive sprocket and the outer main ball bearing. there is not one on the basket case I am restoring. without a spacer the flywheels are free to float because the sprocket abuts the step in the shaft rather than the inner race. If there is one what is the length and does it have a scroll machined on it to return the oil?
Thanks in anticipation

Not sure about for 1954, but the 1951 parts list shows part number 010629 spacer, collar, for engine sprocket (same as 35-G3-E124). So this parts goes back to 1935 unchanged, and I'm sure continued on after 1951. My memory of it is that it was a little wider than 1/4" (??) and was plain.
The "012444 washer, felt between engine sprocket and crankcase" keeps the oils where they should be - hopefully.
hth,
Rohan.
