Main tap is on the right, reserve on left . I believe the thinking being that you don't need to remove your hand from the throttle to turn on reserve.

Also most road tanks have the filler cap offset to the right meaning you can see the level in the main tank if you use the right hand tap as the main one. If you use the left hand tap as the main one you will not be able to see when you are getting towards reserve until you do!ChrisTheChippy wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 6:34 pm Main tap is on the right, reserve on left . Central filler cap on ‘63 on fuel tanks Clive, so unless it’s nearly full you can’t see much anyway.

Also, when you park the bike on the side stand you are moving fuel into the reserve, rather than out of it.ChrisTheChippy wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 6:34 pm Main tap is on the right, reserve on left . Re: Help for a 1964 Ajs CSR 650
hallo guys,
yesterday I took home the CSR!!!!I'm very happy and the bike is really amazing!!!!
I need two advises from you...
Now the Bike mounts a couple of NGK B7ES..do you think is better for Champion N4C?
Second question...one of the Kneeknocker Badges has a little crack...where can I found a couple of new ones?
I tried to find them on the net without success.
Thank you for your help

Beautiful - many congratulations!
The NGKs should be just fine but I don't know about the badges I'm afraid.
Some people prefer Champions, others prefer NGKs, but frankly, as long as they are from a reputable supplier, I've never had the least trouble with either, with magnetos or with battery and coil ignition.

The AJS badges are extremely rare and as such they command a very high price. Matchless ones were produced in the US for a while and they looked at manufacturing AJS ones but they weren't able too.
I know a man who has a pair though! Message me if you're interested. Don't expect a used pair to be perfect though as the Mazak metal they are made from is notorious for pock marking due to age.

There is a pair of repro ones on ebay 325874545575
They're alloy so would need to be chromed for your bike. I'm not sure if that's possible but it might be worth asking your local chrome plater.
Dave.
