Front hubs 5 or 7 rib?

Front hubs 5 or 7 rib?
This '65 scrambler has a 5 rib front hub and I have a spare 7 rib one to build to a 21" wheel, I am learning here, when was the change of the hub design? Are there any other subtle differences I should be aware of?
