Any ideas what this is for.

Post by Invicta »

Having at last started the strip down of my 1950 AJS model 18 and removing the rear chain guard and years of grease oil and road grime , exposed a metal clamp on the left hand side lower frame rail. It was lose enough to swivel about. I have no idea what it was for. It looks to be well made but the fact that it uses two BSW bolts to clamp it together indicates that it was not made by AMC. Can anyone suggest what it might have been for? The only thing that I could think of is some sort of sidecar frame spacer.
