Speedo Illumination
There should be an external thread on the bottom of the speedo about 1/2 inch from memory. A special bulb holder screws on to it they are not very expensive and you should be able obtain one from anybody that deals in speedo's.

I have a different view than your first reply, but this may be wrong as it's done from memory.
The Lightweight speedo has a slot cut on the front face of the unit just below the chrome rim, which is to let the light in from the bulb that just slots into a 3 pronged forked holder that is part of the U shaped mounting bracket for the speedo unit.
It then illuminates all the inner headlamp shell and the speedo face (Just)
